Fishing Trips
Generally speaking both Pike (Jackfish) and Pickerel (Walleye) are plentiful in June; Northern Pike and Lake Trout are more popular in July and August (into September). Arctic Grayling are not found at Moose River; however they can be caught at Little Doctor Lake. The Moose River location is in greater demand after spring thaw in the month of June.
To reserve a particular date and time for your trip, we ask that a non-refundable deposit of $100.00 per person be forwarded to our office.

There are several options available for fishing trips in the Fort Simpson area. One of course is the Nahanni Mountain Lodge, a truly tranquil hide away along the eastern shore of Little Doctor Lake, 60 miles west of Fort Simpson.
This rustic Lodge sleeps eight people comfortably in two log cabins, which are fully equipped with kitchen items, propane fridge and stove, and wood heaters. There is a beautiful sand beach, good swimming, wildlife, and exceptional scenery at the front door. Boat, motor, gas, canoes, paddles, and lifejackets are provided for your use. The cost for trips to Nahanni Mountain Lodge includes air transportation to the lodge and the lodge fee.

Moose River is another favourite — a fly-in fishing trip on the northern shore of Trout Lake. You are required to bring all your gear and necessities, as there are no services at this location (or talk to us about renting gear so you can pack lighter).
A charter to Moose River in the Beaver can take up to six passengers and a payload of 1420 pounds.
The pilot and plane will stay with you for up to 4 hours or until you are ready to return to Fort Simpson.
- Visitors between the ages of 16 and 65 require a NWT fishing license. You can obtain
one by mail, from government offices or select stores and lodges in the territory.
